Setting crossed out prices according to the Omnibus Directive in the Droplabs Panel

The Omnibus Directive, adopted by the European Union on 27 November 2019, introduced a number of changes and solutions that primarily aim to protect consumers from unfair prices. This affected, among other things, the functioning of both stores operated in a stationary form and the e-commerce market.

How do I set strikethrough prices in the Droplabs Panel?

In connection with the Directive, when setting crossed out ticket prices and/or their variants in the Droplabs Panel, in each case of price reduction, information must be added about the lowest price of the service that was in force in the 30 days prior to the introduction of the reduction:

  1. Enter the edit of an existing service or add a new one by logging into the Sales Panel and then going to “Service Management” in the “On Sale” section,
  2. in the “Price” item with the corresponding price variant you need to select “additional settings”,
  3. click on the item “Price visible to the customer as “crossed out”,
  4. enter the crossed out price,
  5. in the field “Comment on the reduction” you must enter information, such as “The lowest price in the period 30 days before the introduction of the reduction is PLN 100".

How to act in cases where the Omnibus Directive does not apply?

In other cases, not covered by the Omnibus Directive, often used by tourist establishments, it is best to state the reason for the existence of such a price in order to avoid misleading the consumer (Unfair Market Practices Act).

Example:

When a different price is applied in an online channel than in a stationary checkout, in the comment next to the crossed out price you can say, “When you buy online, you pay less than at the checkout!”

The combined offer in the form of variants intended for multiple people (e.g. 2+1 family ticket), which is often cheaper than in the situation of buying single tickets, is not a promotional offer. It is therefore not subject to the obligation to report the lowest price of the 30-day period. Nevertheless, it is worth indicating what the crossed out price refers to in order to avoid spreading the information in an inappropriate way.

By entering a strikethrough price comment in the Droplabs Panel, that comment will appear in your store right next to the crossed out price.
